International Women’s Day – From my therapist chair

March 10, 2026

I see the same pattern again and again.

The women who sit across from me are capable.

High-functioning.
Responsible.
Dependable.
And exhausted.

Many are living what I call the “double shift.”
They carry careers and leadership roles.
Then they carry homes, children, aging parents, relationships, schedules — and the emotional weight of everyone else’s needs.

It’s not a weakness. It’s overload.

And overload doesn’t stay quiet.
It shows up as:

  • Anxiety that won’t settle
  • Sleep that never feels restorative
  • Irritability mixed with guilt
  • Feeling numb or disconnected
  • The pressure to “keep it together” at all costs

Women are often praised for being strong.
But strength without support turns into burnout.

So this International Women’s Day, here’s what I want to say clearly:
You are not meant to carry everything alone.
Support is not a luxury.
It is mental health protection.

If you know a woman who looks “fine” but is carrying too much- check in.
And if she needs professional support, we are here to help.

Because celebration is nice.
But real support changes lives.
Strong women deserve support too.
