Raising the Next Gen

April 13, 2026

One of the challenges in working with adolescents is this:

By the time something is clearly “concerning,” it has often been building for a while.

Many of the early signals don’t present as obvious issues. They show up as:

  • subtle withdrawal
  • increased effort to maintain functioning
  • shifts in mood, engagement, or tolerance

Which leaves both parents and providers navigating a lot of uncertainty around what’s “normal.”

I recently spoke with Sonia Dong< on “Raising the Next Gen” Podcast about this in the context of adolescent stress, anxiety, and the growing pressures teens are facing academically and socially.

We explored how these patterns show up in practice, and how early, thoughtful intervention can make a meaningful difference for both teens and their families.

If you’re working with adolescents or supporting families through this stage, this conversation is for you.
